is (CH2OH)2, is the simplest dihydric alcohol. Glycol is colorless, odorless, sweet liquid, low toxicity to animals,
glycol can be mutually soluble with water, but in the ether class solubility is small. Used as solvent,
antifreeze and synthetic polyester raw materials. The polymer of ethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol (PEG),
is a phase transfer catalyst and is also used in cell fusion; Its nitrate is an explosive.
